Welcome to Business in a Changing Society

Businesses today face an unprecedented confluence of forces that challenge their ability to thrive and grow sustainably. Rapid technological innovations, shifting global perspectives, evolving geopolitical realities, and a volatile economic climate require agile, ethical, and forward-thinking leadership. This course prepares students to make informed decisions amidst the complexities of the modern business landscape.

Through real-world case studies and immersive simulations, students will examine the interplay between industry, government, and civil society when addressing some of today’s most pressing issues. Topics explored include corporate social responsibility, globalization and trade conflicts, climate change, and sustainability, diversity and inclusion initiatives, the ongoing economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the role of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data analytics in transforming organizations and societies.

Students will analyze ethical dilemmas related to privacy, automation, and job disruption while considering how geopolitical events such as trade wars, armed conflicts, and nationalist movements impact multinational corporations. Assignments will challenge students to develop innovative solutions and articulate fact-based perspectives on contentious topics.
